Nvidia has introduced the Super Graphics cards, faster successors to the original Turing series. However, there will be no RTX 2080 Ti Super.
The Super Counter
With the Nvidia Super graphics cards, Nvidia has introduced two or three new models. This was the company’s reaction primarily to the launch of the Radeon Navi models of its competitor AMD. The RX 5700 XT and RX 5700 are slightly faster than the normal RTX 2060 and RTX 2070, while the RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super now outweigh this. With more shaders and in the case of the RTX 2060 Super also more memory, they are the real opponents of the Radeon Navi graphics cards. They remain relatively inexpensive. An offshoot of the RTX 2080 as the RTX 2080 Super is also planned, but will be launched on the market only on the 23rd of July.
Nvidia magically pulled the Super graphics cards out of their hat. Without a big launch event and without months of leaks, the speculation about the new graphics cards started at Computex 2019. One month later the GPUs are already on the market. It’ obvious that this is a counter to Radeon Navi. It also seems that Nvidia is afraid that AMD might launch a larger offshoot. Therefore, they have already taken precautions with the RTX 2080 Super.
According to Nvidia there is no RTX 2080 Ti Super
According to Nvidia, it will probably not go any higher. While earlier leaks were also associated with an RTX 2080 Ti Super, Nvidia confirms that such a graphics card will not exist. Jeff Fisher, Vice President PC Business at Nvidia, confirmed this to TweakTown. During a press event for the launch of the Super GPUs, the TweakTown reporter asked if there would be an RTX 2080 Ti Super – which Fisher answered with a “would not be”. Fans of the absolute high-end graphics cards will probably have to wait for the next generation for an even faster GPU than the RTX 2080 Ti – or rely on the exorbitantly expensive Titan RTX.
