In two hours, Google presents new details on the Google Stadia streaming service in an E3 keynote. Now prices and the release date have been leaked.

Google Stadia: streaming services are coming now

A few months ago, Google brought a new streaming service into focus with Google Stadia. This will bring game streaming into the mainstream. The games do not run on the local device, but in Google data centers. Only the image data is transferred to the player, while the input data is transferred to the data center. This requires a fast Internet connection. With Stadia, Google is not the only and also not the first provider who wants to make game streaming popular. The sheer size of the Internet giant, however, could certainly help to make the breakthrough for this types of gaming. At a presentation for today’s E3 in Los Angeles, the company actually wanted to publish the first details about Google Stadia. However, a leak precedes this now.

Stadia Pro with 4K/60FPS for about $9 per month, launch in November

Shortly before the event, the Canadian magazine La Presse accidentally published an article about data that had been kept under NDA. The article is already offline again, but Tom’s Hardware was able to preserve all information from it. Accordingly, Google Stadia starts in November first with the Stadia Pro package. According to La Presse, this costs 12 Canadian dollars a month, which is a good $9. Players with a good internet connection can stream 4K and 60 FPS games. The only hardware needed is a Chromecast Ultra and the Stadia controllers, which Google will probably present today too. A so-called Founder Edition bundle will also be available at the start. This includes a Chromecast Ultra, a Stadia controller, Destiny 2 and a three-month Stadia Pro membership for 169 Canadian dollars (about $127).

With Stadia Pro, access to 31 game titles from Ubisoft, Square Enix and other publishers will be provided. Players may need to purchase additional titles separately from Google. Games starting with Stadia Pro include Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, The Division 2, the Tomb Raider Triology and Doom (2016), according to La Presse.

There will also be a second offer called Stadia Base. This is supposed to be free of charge, but streaming only runs with Full HD and for games you bought from Google.

35 MBit/s Download for 4K

There is also information on the necessary Internet bandwidth. So Google Stadia should generally only work with at least 10 MBit/s download and 1 Mbit/s upload. For 4K streaming with 5.1 surround sound, 35 MBit/s downstream is required. These are the minimum values, more will probably be necessary for a stable gameplay.

Google introduces the streaming service Google Stadia today. At 9 o’clock PST, the livestream starts.
