be quiet! Pure Base 500: Entry-Level Case, but premium

At Computex 2019, our visit to the be quiet! booth focused primarily on one product. The German company presented a new entry-level case of the Pure Base series at the fair. The Pure Base 500 is the new entry into the case world of be quiet! below the Pure Base 600. However, there are high standards for the company in terms of processing, features and of course, sound insulation.

The main goal of be quiet! was to build a compact and high-quality ATX tower. The manufacturer has therefore responded to customer feedback on the Pure Base 600. As a result, there is now a perforated power supply cover and more space for processor coolers and graphics cards. With a maximum height of 183 millimetres, almost every cooler fits into the case. The variable SSD caddies in the front area allow on the one hand a fancy presentation of the data carriers, but on the other hand also the installation of long graphics cards. be quiet! is also taking new paths in cable management. Instead of round diffusers with rubber covers, the Pure Base 500 has a one-piece diffuser which is covered with a metal sheet. Behind the mainboard tray there are Velcro strips for cable management. On the back there is another tray for two 2.5 inch data carriers, which is screwed directly over the cutout in the mainboard tray. Two 3.5 inch hard disks fit in the front of the case.

be quiet! is also generous when it comes to radiator and ventilation support. If the cage for the 3.5 inch data carriers is removed, a 360 mm radiator can also be installed. On the top side there is also space for a radiator with a maximum of 240 mm or two 140 mm fans. The otherwise one-piece top cover can be replaced with a mesh grid if necessary. Both the uninterrupted cover and the grid are magnetic. Even with the fans be quiet! is not stingy. Two 140 mm Pure Wings 2 fans are pre-installed in the Pure Base 500. The colour selection is new. So there is now also a metallic-grey and a white version beside the typical black. These are regular versions, not special editions. There will be each of these cases with closed side panel or with tempered glass. The MSRP prices start at 69.90 euros, the white and grey versions cost six euros extra, with glass side panels another 10 euros extra. The Pure Base 500 is scheduled to start in September.

Straight Power with 80Plus Platinum, System Power now also modular

Apart from the Pure Base 500 there were two more novelties to see in the power supplies. The recently relaunched Straight Power 11 power supplies are now alternatively available with an 80Plus Platinum certificate. This increases be quiet!’s efficiency once again and puts it on a equal level with other manufacturers. The power supplies will be delivered in November. be quiet! covers the power levels 550, 650, 750, 850 1000 and 1200 Watt, only the 450 Watt model does not receive a Platinum certificate. The new Platinum models cost a solid 15 euros more. The gold versions of the Straight Power 11 series will also continue to be available.

Another innovation was the System Power 9 power supplies. These are the first steps to join be quiet! and are especially popular with system builders. The power supplies are now also available with partially modular wiring harnesses. Only the 24 pin cable and the EPS cable for the CPU are permanently installed, the rest is modularly attachable. The fixed cables are now also sleeved. The fan has also been improved. This should be quieter now than the fan in the normal system Power 9. Also the MSRP prices are already fixed. The 400 watt model is available for 54.90 euros, in steps of ten the series goes up to 700 watts for 84.90 euros.
