Tomorrow the GTX 1660 Ti starts. In March a smaller brother with still unknown technical data named GTX 1650 will follow.
The GTX series is alive!
With Nvidia Turing, Nvidia actually buried the GTX brand name and replaced it with RTX. The R shall refer to the raytracing technology. Currently only the RTX 2060, RTX 2070, RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti as well as the Titan RTX carry the brand. Below it raytracing is really difficult to manage – Nvidia gets therefore the GTX brand once again out of the grave. The GTX 1660 Ti starts tomorrow and is the first Turing GPU without raytracing hardware. According to AIDA64, tensor cores for DLSS could also be installed, but the graphics card will still not be able to handle raytracing. Even smaller models are to follow – specifically the GTX 1660 and the GTX 1650, which has now been confirmed.
GTX 1650 planned
As the website Videocardz has learned from unspecified sources, there will also be a GTX 1650. The graphics card is supposed to be below the GTX 1660 Ti and thus probably represents the low end of Turing. In between there could still be a GTX 1660, which, according to Videocardz, is still not confirmed. There is also no further information on the technical data of the 1650. However, it would be logical to use a smaller chip, for example a TU117.
Information on the launch of the two graphics cards is also already available. The two models are scheduled to be launched in March. The GTX 1660 is supposed to start at the beginning of March, while the GTX 1650 will follow at the end of March. More information is likely to appear soon.
