Intel today unveiled new processors from the Coffee Lake Refresh generation at CES 2019. Also the already leaked models without graphics unit are coming.
More Coffee Lake Refresh processors
Intel introduced the new Coffee Lake Refresh generation last fall. This was the first time that eight cores had made their way into the manufacturer’s mainstream portfolio. However, the entire lineup is still somewhat weak. From the start there were only the i9-9900K with eight cores and 16 threads, the i7-9700K with eight cores without hyperthreading and the i5-9600K with six cores without hyperthreading. What’s missing are entry-level models and non-K versions. Intel is now supplying these for the CES 2019 and is also introducing other processors without graphics units that have already been leaked.
i9-9900KF: The F means no graphics unit
To expand the portfolio even further, there are primarily the new F models. These start as i9-9900KF, i7-9700KF, i5-9600KF, i5-9400F and i3-9350KF. In addition, there is an i3-8100F, which is actually no Coffee Lake Refresh processor. These models have one thing in common: the otherwise integrated graphics unit is deactivated. The remaining data like core count and turbo clockspeeds are identical to the models without F suffix. Intel doesn’t use new dies for the F processors, but simply turns off the iGPU. This may be a second use for processors that have a graphic unit fault. However, Intel’s pricing is based on the MSRP prices of the models with iGPU. Possibly lower prices are noticeable only at the retailers.
Besides the F models, there is only one other model, the i5-9400. Not yet officially announced, but already listed by some OEMs are the i5-9500 and the i3-9100. When these processors will be on the market is still unknown. The remaining processors presented are to be released gradually in the market.
